Mango Turmeric Tang by Tea Box

Mango Turmeric Tang - Tea Box

This tea caught me by surprise the moment it's name caught my eye. Fundamentally, I couldn't have imagined turmeric in a tea not even a mango for that matter. However, if I consider it a fruit infusion, I'm in good terms with the mango. But, turmeric ??? However, I was excited to try it and then decide upon how it is designed and what does the combination have to offer me in terms of tea.

As I opened the pack and took the first fragrance of it, I was lost further. The look and fragrance of this tea is more like a tea time snack and I was compelled to check the instructions on the packing to make sure its a 'tea' and not any 'accompaniment'. It smells exactly like a mildly spiced, semi-sweet & salted chiwda (mixture often used as an evening snack accompaniment). The tea is largely yellow in colour with small broken tea leaves in light green (resembling more to the look of lemon grass).

Post brewing: The colour of the tea is very light yellow and looks good and refreshing. But, I do have my reservations about its fragrance.

Taste: Honestly, the tea does not taste even a bit like its fragrance...thankfully so! It has a very mild taste of turmeric and a mild mango flavour post-brewing. In my opinion it would feel the best when you are feeling low in a dull monsoon climate. With its turmeric properties, it would give the best benefits to those seeking relief from weakness and stress caused due to the seasonal health issues. Also, it is best suited to bring relief from fatigue and tiredness. Refreshes the mind in a medicinal way.

Fragrance = -2 stars (it's not fit for a tea- purely my opinion)

Look & Feel post-brewing = +3 stars (a beautiful sun-kissed yellow and a mild and smooth texture to the potion)

Taste = +2.5 stars (good only if you are feeling low and unwell in monsoon, don't think it would fit any other mood)

Typhoo Classic Assam

A Distinctive Black Tea – Typhoo Classic Assam – A bright, robust, aromatic blend of premium Assam teas

This tea indeed has a very calm and refreshing aroma. When brewed strong, it fills you up with a warm and cosy feeling which wakes up your soul towards a brighter side of the day.

It can either be consumed with a small portion of milk or black; with sugar ideally. In both cases, the tea tastes just perfect to lift up your mood and set you right for the tasks for the day.

While it comes in teabags, it has the full potential to enrich your cup of tea just like a thoroughly cooked tea would. The high level of caffeine (compared to that found in teas alone, not comparable to that in coffee) helps create a dark and strong yet smooth blend that slips through your mouth to give the most perfect essence of a morning tea.

Brewing Instructions:

a) Milk Tea:

˜  Boil 3/4th cup of water mixed with 1/4th cup of milk.
˜  Once boiled take off the cook-top and add a tea bag of Typhoo Classic Assam Tea. Allow it to brew for a minute or two, until the colour turns to a dusky brown.
˜  Take off the tea bag and add sugar as per your taste (ideally 2 cubes).
˜  Have it warm.

Accompaniments:
Any light salted and crispy stuff goes well with this Assam tea. Due to its soothing taste, any strong tasting food will be an inappropriate company to the tea. One can have it with khakhra, an open sandwich, salted biscuits with toppings or simple some salted nuts and soya chips.

b) Black Tea:

˜  Boil one cup of water and add a tea bag.
˜  Set it aside for a minute to allow it to brew until the colour turns a rich brown.
˜  Add sugar (ideally 2 cubes) or honey 1 tsp.

Accompaniments:
While it would go just well with the above accompaniments, when had as a black tea, it can also be a great companion of some rich chocolate cookies.

Other Details:
Available in a pack of 25 tea bags.

Orange Spices (fruit infusion) by Typhoo

While I usually don't like orange flavour in most of the things, this fruit infusion tea caught me by surprise with is super refreshing aroma and a taste that lingers in your mouth for a long time.

A little averse I am, about orange flavours in any random thing we eat or drink. But this fruit infusion has nailed it. It's very refreshing and brightens up one's mind and soul. On a dull afternoon, this is best suited to have about half an hour after lunch. It not just helps easy digestion but also removes the low and lazy feeling of a post-meal afternoon.

When suffering from common cold and/or any kind of fever or weakness, thus serves best to make you feel light and relaxed in the best way.

Can be accompanied best with anything light (but not salty), chocolate (prefer dark),  or a mildly sweet tea snack.

5 stars from me.
